In an era where corporate social responsibility often feels rehearsed, Jones FM has carved out a refreshing exception - a partnership with North Kent Mind that is defined not by press releases, but by sweat, stamina, and a commitment to community well-being.

What began as a modest charity run a few years ago - a buoyant 5K event that raised just over a thousand pounds - has matured into something far more ambitious. This year, the Jones FM team undertook a formidable multi-discipline endurance challenge: a demanding combination of cycling, sea paddling, and long distance hiking that pushed everyone well beyond their comfort zones. The test of grit was more than symbolic. It culminated in a remarkable fundraising achievement of £6,730, a sum that delivers tangible support to mental health services across North Kent.

The significance of this contribution extends far beyond the number itself. For North Kent Mind such funding strengthens the backbone of its essential services: counselling, peer-led support, well-being programmes, and community-based recovery initiatives. The charity's work is rooted in values of openness, togetherness, and a refusal to give up on anyone who walks through their doors. It's precisely these values that Jones FM's fundraising embodies.

The relationship between Jones FM and North Kent Mind has matured into something both understated and powerful. The IWFM Impact Awards 2023 are just around the corner, and Jones FM have made it the finalists stage in the Best SME Led Innovation category!

We were able to bring our Energy Management System to life for our incredible judging panel a few weeks ago - thanks to what we have been able to achieve so far with this system in such a short period of time.

We're looking forward to celebrating everyone's achievements on the awards night in October - watch this space for the winners!

We are very excited to announce that we have been selected as finalists for Partners in SME Organisations at this year's PFM Awards, for our partnership with St Katharine Docks.

Beginning in 2017, we are extremely proud of the relationship we have built with the estate management team at SKD, the judges at Premises & Facilities Management agreed and selected us as finalists. We were able to showcase the site and our achievements so far last week to our amazing judges (they're voluntary, have a wealth of knowledge and experience within our sector that they are kindly willing to share, in the name of fantastic service!) - win or lose, we are extremely proud of our partnership with St Katharine Docks and cannot wait to celebrate on November 1st at The Brewery - see you all there!

ISO 45003 SUCCESS

JONES FM LEADING THE WAY IN TEAM WELLBEING

We are very proud to announce that we have been accredited with the new ISO 45003 - Psychological health & Safety At Work

The new ISO Standard has been developed by the International Organisation of Standardisation so that organisations can identify the conditions, circumstances and workplace demands that may have the potential to impair the psychological health and wellbeing of team members. It gives guidelines on how to manage Occupational Health and Safety Management and Psychological Health Risks in the Workplace.

Jones FM is leading the way as we are one of the first companies to obtain the accreditation, we are developing and evolving our procedures.

The system in place will have contact details on site for current mental first aiders, team will be able to contact the mental first aiders if they feel they need assistance or want to talk. If a team member notices a change in behaviour of any of their colleagues they can also contact and share their concerns.

We now have three Mental Health First Aiders within the Jones FM team - Joe Watmough, Whitney Kiely and Matthew Parker with many more due to complete the training in coming weeks.

"With Health & Safety we look at hazards and how to control them to protect from physical injury. With the ISO 45003 we will look for hazards and controls to protect perhaps the most fragile part of us, our mind!"

We are very pleased to announce that we have won the Partners in SME Organisations category with Chiswick Park Enjoy Work at the PFM Awards 2021.

Partners since 2014, we are incredibly proud to have worked so closely with Enjoy Work over the years, developing their culture along with our own and providing a 5 Star service to the Campus. Our team are second to none and we look forward to many more years together delivering the extraordinary!

Thanks to all at Enjoy Work, our fantastic team, both on site and wider operational support - we could not have done it without their expertise and dedication.

4-DAY BEGINNERS ELECTRICAL COURSE

Here at Jones FM, we endeavour to always ensure that our guys are as knowledgeable as they need to be to do work in an efficient and safe manner. Therefore, we have recently sent two employees to do a 4-day electrical course. What does this entail I hear you ask? Well, in a broader sense it gave the team members that went the base qualification and knowledge to begin down the path of becoming an electrician.

What did our guys learn specifically?

In the course, the team members learned the knowledge, theory and gained some practical experience of electrical installation. By the end of the course, they had to show that they could competently install an electrical switch of the course leaders choosing. They were also taught to install items so that they were flexible, and therefore they would be ‘future-proofing’, just in case any changes to the circuit needed to be made.

What does this show about us?

What this shows is that we are a company which will invest in their staff. Instead of outsourcing engineers who already have electrical qualifications, we would prefer to invest in the team we already have and pay for them to become more qualified. This is a path we will always choose as we believe that if you invest in your staff, they will invest in you as a company.

The knowledge I have gained will allow me to work in a safe and efficient manner and hopefully also allow me to progress with further qualifications.’

HIGH RISK CONFINED SPACE TRAINING AT JONES FM

Health and Safety may not be the most glamorous of topics, but it is one that is very important. It is vital for a company such as Jones FM, as we are a facilities management company and have a responsibility to our employees to keep them safe. We always ensure that our team are aware of how to deal with potentially dangerous situations through the distribution of Toolbox talks and the necessary training. We also ensure that they have access to all the personal protective equipment they need.

What Jones are doing to keep their guys safe

Most recently we sent three engineers to Speedy Services in Brentwood to go on the ‘Working in High Risk Confined Spaces’ Level 2 qualification from the awarding body of City and Guilds. Personally, I wasn’t aware of what a qualification like this entailed. I have to admit when I first heard about this qualification my first, and unfortunately only, thought about what this qualification could be about was, ‘erm, being crushed? Claustrophobia?’ I just couldn’t seem to come up with what the potential dangers could be. I guess this means I am not destined for a career in Health and Safety.

Anyway, so would you believe, it is way more complex than I first thought. The reason that training like this exists is for employees who will be working in areas such as sewers, vessels and tanks. Due to the enclosed space people are in they are more at risk of noxious fumes or if excess water materialised they would have less time to react and resolve the problem before it became deadly. So, people who are working in high risk confined spaces need to be trained about how to use, inspect and maintain confined areas safely and will also need to know how to use the equipment necessary effectively.

Matt, one of our employees who went on the course, told me how important training such as this was for him, ‘going on the high risk confined spaces course has helped me gain the knowledge and understanding of the hazards that could occur while working in a confined space. I can now say with confidence that any work I have to carry out in these conditions will be as safe as I can make it for me and my colleagues.’ Our other team member Joe, who also went on the course, has praised the work done by the course leaders, ‘going on the high risk confined spaces course provided me with a vast amount of information and taught me how dangerous a confined space can be. But thanks to the guys on the course I can now identify any potential danger and put necessary precautions in place to prevent anything bad from occurring.’

THE JONES FM COMPLETES THE LONDON TOUGH MUDDER CHALLENGE 2016!

The Jones FM completes the London Tough Mudder Challenge 2016!

Braving the cold, wet and windy conditions the Jones FM team toughed it out to finish of the 2016 London Tough Mudder Challenge. Set in the West of London countryside among the undulating hills the course stretches across 12-miles of beautiful scenery, not that you get to see it for the mud baths! The run up to the event had been suitably wet, but there was a sneaky suspicion among the Jones FM team the hose had been out to put the mud in mudder!

Setting off with their Daz whiter than white t-shirts the team embarked on a gruelling epic journey. There were slips, trips and moving of the hips as the team banded together like never before. Blood, sweat, and tears were shed to not let the side down.

The Jones FM Team Had the Course Licked!

Despite the challenges, the Jones FM team were all determined to see the finish line to raise the much-needed funds for their chosen charity, The Darent Valley Hospital Lollipop Fund. This charity is close to the hearts of all at Jones FM, so it was an incredibly proud moment to cross the line knowing they had just raised £2,195. This money will now be used to support seriously ill children in their rehabilitation as well as supporting those around them to provide the best care and attention possible.

JONES FM TEAM NEED YOUR SUPPORT FOR THE LOLLIPOP FUND DARENT VALLEY HOSPITAL

The Jones FM team will take the London Tough Mudder challenge to raise much-needed funds for the Lollipop Fund, Darent Valley Hospital Charity.

The event promises plenty of undulation, thick mud and a gauntlet of world-class obstacles to test the mental grit of the Jones FM team. Taking place in the hills, valleys and fields of Culden Faw. Thousands of first-timers and Legionnaires alike will battle their way around the course all for worthy causes.

Tough Mudder Challenge London West 2016

How badly would you like to see Brad, Chris & team go through pain & be covered in mud? Enough to donate to a very worthy cause?

The Jones FM team need your donations. Every penny raised for the Lollipop Fund helps support the Willow Ward (Children’s Ward) at Darent Valley Hospital. This very worthy cause is raising funds to expand the Children’s High Dependency Unit with a range of expensive specialist equipment to care for seriously ill children. In such circumstances where it is decided a baby or child would be best treated at a specialist centre elsewhere, the High Dependency equipment would help the transfer to be done safely and swiftly, saving valuable time when dealing with serious diseases such as Meningitis.
